The 8114 circuit board is designed for a wide range of applications. 
Its primary purpose is to control the lighting of carriages from the locomotive and its decoder via current-carrying couplings. 
To establish this, the circuit board features a relay with a potential-free output contact. A resettable fuse in the circuit protects the couplings against overcurrent. 

The relay can be controlled either by the decoder via an amplified output or a logic output. 
An amplifier circuit for an additional logic output is included as a bonus on the circuit board
